Bound in full red crushed morocco ( several volumes professionally rehinge) covers with gilt floral spray to corners and brown and yellow inlaid rose design, elaborate scrolling and leaf pattern surrounding covers, spine with four raised bands in compartments and gilt intricate floral design, gilt title, top edge gilt, inner covers boards green and red morocco leather with multiple gilt-rule, silk water blue doublures.
Bookplate of Alexander Hamilton Rice and Eleanor Elkins Rice was American physician, geographer, geologist and explorer and especially for the expeditions to the Amazon Basin and the director and founder of the Harvard Institute of Geographical Explorations.
