Frontispieces and several additional illustrated plates inserted throughout, in two states with captioned tissue guards. With the surprising provenance of being from Sylvester Stallone's library, with a small printed library plate laid into the first book of each set. Very good. Item #1308

Robert Browning (1812-1889) was an English poet and playwright whose mastery of the dramatic monologue made him one of the foremost Victorian poets. His poems are known for their irony, characterization, dark humour, social commentary, historical settings, and challenging vocabulary and syntax. Elizabeth Browning was his spouse. E.B. Browning (1806-1861) was an English poet of the Victorian era, popular in Britain and the United States during her lifetime. Born in County Durham, the eldest of 12 children, Elizabeth Barrett wrote poetry from the age of eleven. Works include: "Sonnets From the Portugese," "Aurora Leigh," and "Poems."
