Into vol. 1 has been bound an original MS leaf of Thoreau essay Walking(2 pp)., with extensive revisions and corrections in Thoreau hand. 8vo. Bound in contemporary 3/4 green morocco over decorated paper boards, spines gilt, top edge gilt, other uncut. Manuscript Edition, limited to 600 copies, this copy contains an important MS leaf from the famous essay Walking in Thoreau own handwriting. The two pages of manuscript are extensively corrected and revised. Walking was presented as a lecture by Thoreau in his later years but only published after his death. The line in Wildness is the preservation of the world, has remained one of three seminal works of the environmental movement, the other two being Emerson Nature and George Perkins Marsh Man and Nature.
